The End of a Hollywood Era: Elizabeth Taylor 1932-2011

It’s the end of an era in Hollywood with the passing of Elizabeth Taylor. She was an actress from childhood, her appearance in  the movie “National Velvet” with Mickey Rooney was the movie that launched her career.

She made 50 films, classics like “Father of the Bride”,  “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” with Paul Neuman and “Cleopatra” with her long time love Richard Burton.  She was a studio contract actress like many of her day having to make films that were given to her, but she was also one to break the studio system.

From her off camera activities that netted her tabloid attention, to her multiple marriages, her ownership of one of the world’s largest diamonds, to her humanitarian work know the world wide, she held herself with class and grace. Elizabeth Taylor was the first actress to be paid 1-million dollars for a film.

She had a way about her on camera unlike any other actress of her day, with those piercing eyes and her soft but passionate voice. She now lives on in memory and through her films.

She was a true Hollywood legend.
