 A Brief History of Hyde Park

Back in 1536 King Henry VIII and his court were thundering across Hyde Park in pursuit of deer and wild boar. Fast forward to modern ages, where this same park is home to the noble art of tai chi peacefully performed in the early morning among the greenery, and the Italianate tenor of Pavarotti has echoed across the park, applauded by vast audiences. Hyde Park sees millions of Londoners and tourists visiting the capital’s eight Royal Parks. Hyde Park covers 350 acres and is home to a number of famous landmarks including the Serpentine Lake, Speakers’ Corner and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain.
