Established almost half a century ago, Grant Macdonald has developed from a commission-only silversmith’s workshop into a multi-divisional luxury bespoke service.
It is their philosophy and productive purpose to produce objects of rarity, quality and craftsmanship and is at the heart of what they do. By fusing centuries old techniques with the latest cutting edge technology, the designers and craftsman at Grant Macdonald realise the true beauty in precious materials, creating timeless objects to be enjoyed for generations to come.
Uncompromising Craftsmanship and Unique Design
This uncompromising craftsmanship defies today’s transient world of mass production and celebrates the making of unique handmade pieces, in London. Grant Macdonald holds the Royal Warrant as Goldsmiths & Silversmiths to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and proudly displays the Royal Arms of His Royal Highness in recognition of this great achievement.
Bringing to Life the Vision of their Clients
Its important to them to understand each customer’s unique vision is the first and most important stage of any bespoke project. After initial consultations, the design and production process may begin with a hand drawn sketch and end in a tour of the workshop, as the final piece is handcrafted by their team of master craftsman. Each and every step is undertaken within the Grant Macdonald workshop, in the very heart of London.
6 Stage Process to Creating Your Precious Timeless Objects
The customer shares the vision and inspirations for the project with our experienced, in-house design team.
The award-winning designers at Grant Macdonald will research the brief and prepare initial concepts to present to the customer.
Once the concept is agreed, the complete artwork is drawn up by hand or using CAD. The design expertise at Grant Macdonald extend beyond silversmithing. For example, bespoke fine bone china, linen and crystal can also be designed as part of a full dining service.
Samples and prototypes can be produced when necessary. For sterling silver pieces, 3D printed samples are made in resin. The resin samples (pictured) allow the customer to appreciate the proportions and textures of a piece before it is produced.
The final pieces are then handcrafted in their London workshop by the Grant Macdonald team of expert silversmiths and customers are welcome to the workshop to see their unique pieces as they are made by their master craftsman.
The completed order is delivered directly to the customer, as required.
